X-Factor is back for another season and as per usual this one promises to be bigger and better than all that have gone before. The aim is to find the world’s greatest singer, who has probably been hiding in their bedroom nervous to share their star potential with the world; a bit of a sob story doesn’t appear to hurt their chances either as were always a sucker for a heart breaking story.
There have been some changes to the ninth series of the talent contest. Nicole Scherzinger has been drafted in to replace Kelly Rowlands, fuelling rumours of backstage bust ups in the last series. There are also going to be some rule changes, in an effort to spice things up a little.
In previous seasons, entrant were not allowed to have any kind of representation or management, leading to some hopefuls being given the boot in years gone by. But this rule has now been removed, opening up the floodgates for talent who have never quite been able to hit the big time.
The initial stage is everybody’s chance to shine and this year’s auditions will have a new little twist. The band of hopefuls now have the chance to not only show off their vocal abilities but also their musical talents, as they are now able to perform their own material as well as the obligatory covers; you can literally see Simon Cowell’s eyes lighting up as the next perfect singer songwriter walks through the door.
The overs age group has also been increased from 25 to 28.
This year’s competition will also see a number of guest judges, casting their eye on the poor desperate souls searching for their last hope of fame and fortune. Or hoping to use X-Factor as a spring board to launch them to global recognition and all the free designer brands they could ever wish for.
