Premier League Preview 08-08-15
The Premier League is finally back and back with a bang, having had a baron summer of football, normal service can now resume. So take back that remote, renew your sky sports subscription and sit back and enjoy the best league in the world; oh and place a few bets of course!
The season gets under way with a highlight fixture Old Trafford and an early kick off on Saturday, as Man Utd entertain Tottenham at Old Trafford. Louis van Gaal will be hoping to better his opening day defeat last year following some improvements over the summer, to a squad that was beginning to show some quality in the run in.
Defending champions Chelsea have to wait a little bit longer to get their campaign underway, having been left frustrated by Arsenal’s tactics in their Community Shield loss on Sunday. The Stamford Bridge crowd will be eager to see some great football against Swansea and we’re expecting back lash, so we’re backing Chelsea to romp this one.
On Sunday, Arsenal will be fresh from their confidence boosting Community Shield win and what better way to start a new campaign than to beat an old enemy in front of a home crowd. Despite having a fresh approach under Slaven Bilic, West Ham will likely go home with no points.
Liverpool will definitely be hoping lightening doesn’t strike twice as they take on Stoke, the team who humiliated them 6-1 in last season’s final fixture. With both teams adding to their squad, this will be an intriguing match.
Man City fans have the longest wait to see their players in competitive action, the only team from last season’s top four not starting at home, they also have the horrible Monday night fixture to contend with. A resilient West Brom await the title hopefuls at the Hawthorns and for me a draw is on the cards, though I am backing Raheem Sterling to give the fans some joy with his first Premier League goal for City.
