Neptune Novice Hurdle
The first race of day two is the tantalising Neptune Novices Hurdle which looks set to be a great race, there’s a lot to be said for the form of Parlour Games going into this one, but I don’t think he is unbeatable; if allowed entry Kilcrea Vale could have a big say.
But my big ante post pick has to be Tell us More, with his odds taking a bit of a drop following his recent defeat to McKinly, now might just be the best time to back this one; especially as he saw off some top class competition and lost by a mere half length.
Should the Don not line up then Kings Palace is his closest challenger, but with the form looking a bit hit and miss I’m not convinced he would be a wise back up bet. You would be better spending your cash elsewhere, like the consistent Coneygree whose form has been great, making an each way bet very tempting.
This one is usually a bit tricky and I would normally approach it with a bit of a relaxed attitude, but there could be a nice little bet to be had this year should Le Mercurey be given the nod to go in the The Coral Cup.
The Champion Chase
The Champion Chase is a definite favourite of mine and a race I really look forward to. It’s no surprise that Spinter Sacre leads the market given his previous form, but with a turbulent year a big effort would be needed here and I think he’s capable of producing the goods when it matters.
Of all my Cheltenham Festival 2015 tips for day two, this is the one I’m most excited about. Willie Mullins name crops up again after dominating Day One’s Preview, with a host of the Irish trainers rides leading the market in the Champion Bumper. I’m hoping he gives Livelovelaugh the chance to shine and possibly take centre, as I was impressed with his win in Punchestown at the end of last year. Although his form isn’t much to look at, the way in which he won had me reminiscing of Cork All Star in the 2002 Bumper.
